ISO airlock furnishing

Personnel lockers are often tightly dimensioned and yet must be furnished in a very functional and ergonomic manner. We customize the furniture with cabinets, lockers and sit-over benches to fit the space available and the number of your employees. For personnel airlocks that are ISO certified, we use furniture made of melamine or solid core.

GMP airlock furnishing

Furniture used in a GMP personnel airlock meets even stricter cleanliness requirements. Surfaces and workmanship of the airlock furniture must prevent dust deposits and allow easy cleaning and disinfection. Only certain materials are permitted for GMP requirements. We use a duplex material, HPL or solid core here. Stainless steel is used for our dispensers.

FAQ
Airlock equipment and accessories

The airlock equipment from SCHILLING ENGINEERING is designed individually for each customer. Factors such as the cleanroom class, the available space, and the amount of personnel that has to be loaded per shift have to be taken into account. Other factors that play a role in the planning of the airlock equipment are cleanability and, to a certain extent, design.
Only if all the above-mentioned points are taken into account can a personnel airlock be optimally planned and ultimately used efficiently and comfortably.
We would be pleased to support you in planning your airlock equipment.

An airlock is a closed area that connects two or more rooms with different cleanliness classes. Its purpose is to control the flow of air between rooms and prevent particles, germs or other contaminants from passing from one room to another.
To perform this function, an airlock requires special equipment and accessories that meet the high hygiene and safety requirements of the cleanroom.

The furnishings of a personnel airlock are made of high-quality materials, such as coated or covered duplex panels or solid core. The surfaces are smooth and easy to clean. Fixed components of a personal lock are usually sitover benches, wardrobe cabinets and shelves. These serve to make the changing process as efficient and pleasant as possible.
The furnishings and accessories of an airlock are therefore essential components of a functioning cleanroom system. They ensure that the cleanroom maintains its high quality and performance and that the products or processes in the cleanroom are not impaired by contamination.

An airlock is used to provide contamination-free access to sensitive cleanrooms. In order to fulfill this function, an airlock requires special equipment and accessories, depending on the cleanroom class, which meet the high hygiene and safety requirements in the cleanroom.
The equipment of an airlock depends on the needs of our customers.
The furnishings of a personnel airlock consist of high-quality materials, such as coated or covered duplex panels or solid core panels. The surfaces are smooth and easy to clean.
The difference between ISO and GMP airlock furnishings is often not apparent at first glance. Since more aggressive cleaning agents are often used in the GMP area, the airlock equipment must have a corresponding resistance. This resistance is not absolutely necessary in the ISO area, which is why less expensive materials are often used here.

A personnel airlock is an airlock used to transport people between different cleanliness classes. A personnel airlock prevents particles, germs or other contaminants from passing from one room to another. To perform this function, a personnel airlock requires special airlock furniture that meets the high standards of cleanroom hygiene and safety.
The airlock furniture is the furniture installed in the airlock to support the people entering or leaving the cleanroom. The airlock furniture is made of high quality materials, such as stainless steel or aluminum. The surfaces are smooth and easy to clean. The airlock furniture is self-supporting and can be connected to each other.
Basic airlock furniture for a personnel airlock includes:

  • Sitover bench: a sitover bench is a piece of furniture used to change shoes before entering or leaving the cleanroom. The sitover bench often consists of a bench seat with an integrated shoe compartment. The bench provides a comfortable place to sit for putting on and taking off shoes. The shoe compartment provides a safe place to store shoes. The sitover bench prevents dirt or particles from the shoes from entering the cleanroom.
  • Cleanroom adhesive mat: An adhesive mat in a cleanroom airlock is used to remove dirt and particles from shoe soles and transport equipment before entering the cleanroom. This reduces the risk of contamination, increases cleanroom integrity and provides a cost-effective method of particle control directly at the entrance.
  • Coat Closet: A coat closet is used to hang clothing before entering or leaving the cleanroom. The coat closet is made of a cleanroom-grade material and provides enough space for multiple clothing items. They can also be used to stock utensils.
  • Mirror: A mirror is used during lock-in to be able to check the fit of the cleanroom clothing.

So this type of airlock equipment is fundamental to a personnel airlock, as they assist people in their transition between different cleanroom classes. They ensure that the cleanroom maintains its high quality and performance and that the products or processes in the cleanroom are not affected by contamination.

The airlock equipment from SCHILLING ENGINEERING is perfectly suited for use in personnel airlocks, as they meet the high requirements for hygiene, safety and quality.
Among other things, they meet the requirements of ISO and GMP due to the easy cleanability of the smooth surfaces. Furthermore, the airlock furniture is resistant to chemicals and has a high load-bearing capacity. An antimicrobial coating prevents the growth of bacteria or fungi and thus reduces the risk of contamination. Furthermore, the airlock equipment meets the requirements for use in food areas and is therefore food safe.
